TrainingThe Welsh Video Network Support Centre, in conjunction with the University of Wales Swansea, offers videoconferencing training to member Institutions of the Welsh Video Network. The training covers user and technical training and provides guidance on best practice in videoconferencing, as well as covering the JVCS Booking Service, and takes place over the course of a day, from 09:15 to 16:30. Most of the training is held at the WVN studio in Swansea. Registration is at 09:15, with the training itself starting at 09:30. Refreshments and lunch are provided, and the day ends at 16:30. A nominal charge is made for attendance on the course, to cover costs. Courses can be arranged at member Institutions, subject to certain conditions. Further details of this option are available on request. The training is targeted at everyday users and people with responsibility for booking studios as well as those responsible for the studios at a technical level. It is anticipated that the more technically minded will attend for the whole day. Those who just want to use videoconferencing in WVN studios and improve the way they make use of the studios and the Booking Service will benefit most from the morning sessions. The numbers at each session will be strictly limited to six attendees, to ensure that all attendees are able to gain valuable ‘hands-on’ experience. The cost of the course is £25 per day, which will cover up to two people from the same Institution. There is no limit on the number of people from the same Institution who can attend, although the maximum number of six permitted per session cannot be exceeded. Different costs will apply if the training is held at your Institution. For further information, or to arrange a Training Day, please contact Deirdre Magoris, WVN Administrator. In the past, the WVN has delivered several training sessions using Microsoft® PowerPoint® to illustrate the equipment. These presentations can still be viewed online here.
